DIY Sundays // earring collection

so, i wanted to start a new segment on my blog called, DIY Sundays. since i have started a new job & was given the beautiful gift of having sundays off, i have dedicated this day to strictly lounging around the house, while doing some DIY projects in between. like, literally every sunday i'm working on some arts & crafts project around my apartment.
not too long ago i had been doing research on earring organizers because my collection has grown a lot. i initially organized my collection with these velvet stands, but realized two things. 1, the newer stands are made a lot thinner & cheaper than the old ones i had purchased. & 2, if i keep buying these stands i won't have anymore room left on my chest drawer for other things.
so, i went to youtube to see how other people organized their earrings. surprisingly, i didn't come across a lot of collections that i liked, & felt fit my style. so i went to michael's & scanned their jewelry organization & came across the black stand below.
when i tell you this was a tedious job, this was a TEDIOUS JOB. but i told myself i wanted to start & finish this job all in the same day. during the process, i threw away earrings that i hadn't worn in a long time, & ones that were just disgusting from constant wear. & because i am the perfectionist i am, i color coded them (terrible, i know).
however, once i got them all on there, i realized i became annoyed every time i squeezed my hands through to snap them in place. & within the days following, as i would get earrings to put on & then return them at the end of the day, i found it hard to put the earrings back on the display because i would knock other earrings off or kept dropping the one i had in my hand. so this told me that this display needed to be returned.
so, i went back to the drawing board of finding a new display and came across a video where a girl had an acrylic stand from the container store. now this seemed like something i could deal with. so the next time i was in the area, i stopped by and examined it. not only is it easier to use, but you could close the stand completely, put it in a bag (just in case earrings fall off) & take it traveling with you. genius right? so i took all the earrings off the black stand & put them on my new stand.
life is so much better now & it takes up very little room on my chest drawer.
