my life in june
10:15 PM♡ -- the bad:
this month i renewed my lease after i frantically tried to look for a new place with only 2 weeks to do so. i have been so busy since march, that it totally slipped my mind that i was suppose to start searching for a new place in april. my rent was $559 a month & when i was given my 60 day notice to renew or leave, they told me my rent would go up to $640. of course being the savvy saver i am, i knew i could get a townhome or foreclosed house for less than $640 a month. but there wasn't enough time for me to dissect prices & all that good stuff, so i renewed my lease. with the 2% student discount it went down to $627, then surprisingly the lead leasing consultant went the extra mile & asked headquarters to lower my rent to $600 a month. she said she really liked me & wanted me to stay. i don't know how much of that is true, but when i originally moved in she lower my rent that time as well :)
as i mentioned in a previous post, sadity (my car) not only had a flat tire, but the battery went dead the very next day. causing me to miss a sunday of errands & work that following monday. fortunately, i had kia tow my car from my house to their shop as they fixed all of the zillion issues that was going on. once again, being so busy i forgot about my 60,000 mile maintenance & my oil change that was due 1000 miles ago. it cost me $522 for them to do all the maintenance needed & although sadity is a necessity, it still hurt me to give that money away.
i also had summer courses, which ended this past saturday! i took 3 classes in a quarter, which is a first for me. it wasn't that bad, especially since all of my teachers gave me very little assignments. so far i have a high A+ in each class, but there are still papers that need to be graded, so let's pray those A's stay like they are. with school out of the way finally, i can focus on other obligations, such as relaxing by the pool, reading every book in my library, vacation & oh yeah....work. i also have a meeting at a potential graduate school at the end of july, lets see if this is the school for me.
well aside from all of the above, there was some good that came of this month. i'm done with school, being the first thing. i was invited to more festivities than i expected, a few birthdays here & there. my friend minh turned 24 & he celebrated with dinner at applebee's & bar hopping throughout buckhead. my old friend mercedes turned the big 2-1 & celebrated with dinner at bluefin (which by the way is delicious)! that restaurant really inspired me to start a food blog which i'm currently brewing up a name for. she also invited ishonna & we were able to catch up a tad bit since we haven't hung out since spring break (sheesh).
i also spent time with some new friends. we had movie night, hosted by hieu & tram watching alien and aliens. then we went out the following weekend to try some of hieu's seafood at his restaurant, then the movie prometheus. it was nice to take a little break & mingle with a few people.
then lastly i was able to spend time with friends & family. i have been spending a lot of time lately with my best friend kyra. it's always nice to have a little dysfunction in your life & she definitely can bring dysfunction, but that's what makes me love her as my best friend. i just hope july comes with less headaches & less money being spent. i hope i can truly relax & take life by the horns. i want so much more than what i currently have, but i must learn patience.
