review // hair // shoulder length senegalese

5:43 PM

hello all,
after almost a year of not wearing weave due to my eczema, i am finally able to wear braids again! i chose senegalese twist this time around because i have never had these type of twist before & every time i see them on someone else i can't believe how beautiful they are.

not only is this style beautiful, but the hair is extremely affordable as well. i purchased 6 packs of kanekalon hair, which retails around $1 to $3 per pack. i purchased 5 packs in 1B & 1 pack in 1B/30 to add some color.

my twist are considered medium. i have seen them in almost every size; micro, small, medium, large & extra large. my stylist cut the hair in half before she started braiding as well.

products needed:

-- your choice of 100% kanekalon hair.
-- your choice of beeswax to keep the twist in place.
-- pot of boiling water once completed to seal the ends of your twist.

optional products:

-- grease to condition your scalp.
-- oil sheen.
-- tea tree oil or any product that reduces build up.
-- dry shampoo to clean your hair/scalp since you really can't wash this type of style often.
-- gel or jam to help your edges remain tamed.
-- hair wraps to keep your hair looking fresh daily.
-- if you do get your hair wet, dry it with a t-shirt.

recommended for:

-- as a protective style for those transitioning from relaxed to natural.
-- a protective style for relaxed or natural hair women.
-- for those who are great with keeping their hair healthly.
-- for those wanted their hair to grow longer.

  1. hi... your hair looks really nice hair. could you please tell me which type of Kanekalon hair you used, because there are several types. Like was it the type that looks straight like expressions or the kinky one which is like an afro? thanks

    1. until this day i still do not remember the brand i purchased.
i'll try to go back to the hair store sometime this week to get the name. i can tell you that it's the highest grade of kanekalon hair. the hair that i used is smoother, shinier & silkier than the 99 cent hair.

    1. hello amber,

i actually got this style because i was headed on vacation to the beach. i was nervous they would unravel, but because i had medium twist none of them did. if you're planning to do a lot of swimming, i would suggest box braids though.

      hope this helped :)
